Account Manager

The West Coast Account Manager will be responsible for managing sales for our west coast accounts in US and Canada, which includes current customers and prospecting new retailer.  He or she will be the main point of contact for this customer base (around 250 independent retailers.)  There are generally a few new Skip Hop innovations hitting the market each month and this candidate needs to be creative, strategic and with a passion for sales.  He/she will be handed a book of business that they must maintain and grow.  Prospecting new retailers is a focus, but there is also plenty of opportunity with the current business to be grown.  Marketing and merchandising are extremely important and huge initiatives for Skip Hop, so get ready to put all the aspects of selling together to make Skip Hop soar at retail.


This position is for someone who is a self-starter, problem solver, creative and forward thinker. The ideal candidate will not quit until the job is done and will possess the drive to succeed.  A love for selling and overcoming obstacles, penetrating through sales barriers to have the territory properly represented with Skip Hop products needs to 100% of his/her focus.  This position requires someone with strong experience in using marketing and merchandising to grow sales.  The ideal candidate will not be afraid to pick up the phone (rather than just e-mal) and have a strong capability to build relationships.  Candidates with less than strong sales achievements and numbers need not apply.


Essential Job Functions

  • Contact accounts weekly/monthly to work with them on reorders. We always have a new product to talk about.  Currently, we’re re-launching our Signature Duo Diaper Bag line. 
  • Discuss marketing and merchandising tools which Skip Hop can provide to increase retail sales and review business with each account monthly.
  • Manage entire territory—candidate needs to understand the markets, the relationship the retailers have to their competitors and so on.
  • Travel to accounts to cultivate relationships with store buyers and work on merchandising enhancements.  (Travel 20-30%).
  • Build the Skip Hop brand through merchandising and marketing in the stores
  • Establish and maintain sales projections by account to ensure that goals are met.
  • Provide feedback to merchandising and sales teams often.
  • Prospect new accounts and new distribution channels


  • 5+ years similar work experience
  • Familiarity with baby and gear stores or consumer goods industry is a plus
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to aggressively seek new opportunities
  • Excellent negotiating and analytical skills with a proven track record in increasing sales
  • Strong understanding of the entire sales process including client prospecting, taking orders, order maintenance, shipping, and follow-up

Digital Marketing Manager

We are seeking a hands-on professional to manage our Web site, e-commerce business and online marketing and social media efforts.  The eCommerce Business Manager will oversee all web functionality, handle the day-to-day activities on the site, launch new products online, refresh the site regularly, and manage all Web/digital marketing activities including email marketing, social media, loyalty programs and other targeted campaigns.  The Business Manager is responsible for the online/digital execution of the company’s global brand strategy – including unique creative content, partnership giveaway’s, and loyalty programs. In addition, the qualified individual will be able to manage SEO/SEM, affiliate programs such as linkshare, strategic promotional activity and online marketing partnerships.  


Candidate must have experience with a full-featured ecommerce platform such as Magento or Miva as well as Google Analytics.


The ideal candidate has both creative and quantitative skills.  From a design-oriented standpoint, the manager will be responsible for usability and navigation, look and feel and brand-driven presentation.  This person also must be an analytical thinker who can regularly analyze the ecommerce business, track marketing and campaign performance, develop management reports and oversee a budget.  





·        Manage front-end Web site, landing pages, content, product pages using both our CMS and basic web development skills.

·        Write creative briefs that lead to creation of all marketing assets: banners, eblasts, promotions.

Our growing Product Development team in Flatiron NYC is looking for a motivated designer who boasts both a keen fashion design sense and solid background of experience designing a wide range of products. The right person for this role will be responsible for everything from market research, concept and spec drawings for bags and accessories, so he/she must be able to complete final specs on the computer (Adobe Illustrator). 


If you have prior bag design experience, that's huge, because we'll need you to know bag construction and be able to spec materials and hardware. Other design experience such as accessory design and trend research is a big plus as well. Once you're on board, you will be responsible for working with overseas factories and approving materials and construction, so you must be very detailed oriented and a great communicator. You must be able to handle many projects at once, possess a modern aesthetic and wield a pitch-in attitude.


**Please Note: You Must Have Handbag Design Experience To Be Considered For This Role**

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist the design team with product design research

• Product ideation, sketching, drafting and rendering

• Communicate with vendors during tooling and production

• Travel as needed to facilitate production with vendors


Specific Skills:

• Degree in Industrial Design or fashion/accessories design with 2-4 years of experience designing handbags

• Sketching both technical drawing and freeform renderings.

• 2D computer skills – Photoshop and Illustrator

• Excellent organizational, time management and presentation skills

• Ability to work autonomously, and as part of a team
